Flag of the Dutch language

Dutch is the language of the Netherlands, of Belgium (where it is known as Flemish) and of Suriname. It is a Germanic language, very useful for anyone who wants to study, work or travel in the Netherlands and Belgium.

For Portuguese speakers

It sits between English and German: the vocabulary has a lot in common with both. The grammar is simpler than German, with fewer cases, but the pronunciation needs practice, especially the sounds of g, ui and ij.

  • De and het articles, common and neuter genders
  • Verbs and sentence order
  • Pronunciation of g, ui and ij with audio
