How to learn a new language

Learning a new language is one of the most rewarding journeys there is, but it can also seem intimidating at first. The good news is that there is no single right path — the videos above show methods that differ widely from one another, from polyglots who speak more than ten languages to teachers who defend a more structured approach, and all of them work.

A few points, however, come up again and again among people who have learned several languages: consistency matters more than intensity (20 minutes every day yields more than 3 hours once a week), making mistakes is a necessary part of the process, and listening to or reading real content in the language — songs, series, videos, conversations — speeds up learning a lot when combined with the study of grammar, not instead of it.

It is also worth having a clear goal: learning to travel, for work, or to delve into a country's culture calls for different focuses. And, above all, having a content structure designed for your level — like Linguarudo's guided grammar, exercises and progress tracking — helps maintain the consistency that makes all the difference in the long run.
